Tutorial #2-supplement(CP):   Copy/Paste

Because of how common, and crucial, this operation is in so many situations, Windows, Linux, and MacOS-X provide multiple ways for this operation to be performed, and that can sometimes result in confusion when you are instructed to "copy" or "paste" something. Because HerbalThink-TCM works on three operating systems, including many older versions of these, we try to write our instructions in the simplest possible way that applies everywhere.

Copy  and  Paste  commands, when relevant, will almost always be found in the  Edit  menu. (Sometimes, but not always, these commands may also be found in a pop-up contextual menu when clicking on an item.) However, in the overwhelming majority of situations, the following procedure using keyboard shortcuts should work:

  1. Select the text to be copied by clicking your mouse at the start of the text, then dragging it to the end point. The selected text will now be highlighted.
  2. Do the following keyboard shortcut:   Windows, Linux: ⌃C ;   MacOS-X: ⌘C
  3. Go to the text document or place where you want to paste the item, and click your mouse at the intended insertion point.
  4. Finally, do:   Windows, Linux: ⌃V ;   MacOS-X: ⌘V

Activating your license — Copy/CopyAll

In the HerbalThink-TCM software, there are two situations in which it is very important for us to receive complete and accurate information from users:

  • Verifying that your software has been installed correctly by sending us the  About this computer  information.
  • Sending us the  SoftwareID  that we will need to activate your license.

In both of these situations we have provided command buttons that simplify the copy operation; see screenshots below.
When you hit the  Copy All  or the  Copy  button, though nothing may appear to happen or change, the intended text has now been selected and copied (to your System Clipboard). Immediately go to your target document or draft email message, click your mouse at the intended insertion point and  Paste  into that document. The intended text should then appear, inserted into place.
