Pulse Simulator, screen shot #2:

Traditional slippery pulse

#1: Normal pulse

#2: Traditional slippery pulse

#3: Very choppy + sinking pulse

#4: Combined slippery and choppy quality

#5: A complex pulse

This configuration was created by choosing a slippery pulse from the traditional menu. A traditional slippery pulse is composed of several of the fundamental parameters. The fundamental parameters of a traditional slippery pulse are:

  • Strength: strong
  • Width: wide
  • Boundary: fuzzy
  • Slipperiness (a time profile characteristic): slippery

(Note that a traditional slippery pulse and a slippery time-profile quality are not equivalent. A traditional slippery pulse has a slippery time-profile in addition to being strong, wide, and having a fuzzy boundary quality.)

A slippery pulse may be associated with a number of TCM symptom-sign patterns:

  • Interior Dampness or Phlegm
  • Food Stagnation
  • Excess Heat or Damp-Heat
