The above display shows the search results for the search shown in the previous slide (#2).

  • The far left column, Search Result, contains a ranking number equal to the number of matching search items in each record.

     
  • Herb records are sorted by ranking, the highest ranking appearing at the top.

     
  • The 2nd column, Matching Text, is a summary of the text containing a match, with the exact matching text words or phrases highlighted in blue. (By displaying the immediate context of the matching words, you can determine whether a match is a true match based on meaning or just an accidental word match.)

     

Using the search capability in the Herb Table, you can find Herbs having properties desired for a specific clinical case. For example, in the search example shown above, the search was intended to find Herbs that both Tonify the Qi and Drain Dampness and act primarily on the Spleen. Several Herbs were found that match all these criteria. Real cases often require finding Herbs that balance multiple factors.
