Traditional Chinese Herbal Sciences explores the philosophical foundations of TCM herbology by comparing its history with that of western science and medicine, and by comparing its principles with ideas from physics, biology, and mathematics. The clinical rules and procedures of TCM herbology are explained in clear and concise language, with many case examples discussed in detail. Discover why choosing herbs based only upon single symptoms or medical diagnoses may often lead to incorrect and sometimes dangerous outcomes, and how TCM provides a greater level of precision in choosing herbal strategies and formulas.
The first six chapters of the course text are available on-line, below.
For complete contents and to order, see **Traditional Chinese Herbal Sciences CD-ROM (self-study reference and self-quizzing software).

"TCM Herb Database" is a frames-based on-line reference of clinical information on over 290 herbs of the TCM materia medica. It is intended as a convenient reference for both health professionals and their clients, and is a free limited version of the much more extensive database included with the **Traditional Chinese Herbal Sciences CD-ROM (self-study reference and self-quizzing software): 291 herb entries plus index of common symptoms, 136 TCM syndrome definitions, 254 classical herbal formulas, extensive cross-referencing for easy look-up of terminology, and indexing of terms by English, by Mandarin, and by functional groupings.
Technical terminology unique to TCM herbalists is used in describing each entry; complete understanding of such terminology requires professional training. With this precaution in mind, the information should be useful to a broad range of users. The database includes information about botanical classification, dosage, contraindications, preparation, physiological notes, and traditional Chinese clinical indications.
To access the database, please enter your assigned username (not your real name) and password into the small popup box that will appear. (A subscription to our free newsletter, Herbalist Review, includes access codes to the TCM Herb Library.)
